Blog Hop: Appreciating What You Have

I apologize for my severe lack of blog posts.  School is really picking up since it is the end of the year and there are lots of term papers, books to read, and tests to take.  School gets out May 20-something, right about the time Jethro comes, so you should be seeing a lot from me then!  L. over at Viva Carlos came up with yet another great blog hop, so here you are.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the Pros of our current ponies, whether you own them or just ride them in lessons.

-She is incredibly smart, so new concepts are never a challenge for her.  It is just a matter of using that smartness for good and not evil...
-She has never had a lame day in her life
-Her feet are rock solid, so she doesn't require shoes
-Her bite/teeth are spot on
-She is a very easy keeper
-She isn't picky about food and actually loves getting wormer and SandClear
-She is extremely independent, so no buddy sourness here
-She is loaded with personality and is quite the goof
-She is very bold to new objects and has no issues going through water, crossing bridges, tarps, etc.
-While she is short (slightly below 14.1hh), her stockiness keeps my 5'8.5" self from looking too tall on her
-She is unbelievably cute!

Return of Jethro the MINIon

Well these past couple of days have been spent with Jethro.  I have gained a couple of followers since then, so for those of you that don't know, Jethro is a miniature donkey.  He was born in late January 2014, so he will not actually be coming to our barn until late May since he needs to be with his mom.

Jethro the day we met him, he was only a month old in this picture

Luckily, he is still the exact same as when I left him, just bigger and less of an awkward (for example, he is finally growing into his knees) baby!  It is so neat watching him grow.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a ton of photos since I was busy spending time with him and the ones I did get were meh cellphone photos.

I brushed him a little bit towards the end (after the photos) and practiced picking up his hooves.  He stands nicely for both grooming and having his hooves picked up.    His main issue is that he isn't keen on selfies; I kept on trying to take some but he would turn his head away or back up one step whenever I tried.  Selfie shy I suppose?  Whatever, Jethro, be that way.

He has eyes, folks, no worries!

Sweet little Jethro!

Hey there, little man!

In other Jethro news, his little facility is being constructed!  We are over halfway done now, just waiting on a guy to put up the fence.  I will be sure to write a blog post of it for you all.
